Hi,
I created a simple stream in hysys containing n-pentane and mercury at 20 degrees Celsius and 20 bar. Normally, i should have two liquid phases. One liquid hydrocarbon phase(with some mercury) and one liquid mercury phase(with some hydrocarbon). Instead i get one liquid phase with the exact composition as the feed composition. Do you know how to tell hysys to make liquid liquid equilibrium calculations?

The thermodynamic model i used is SRK-Twu, and the composition is 0.999 pentane and 0.001 mercury.

Thank you

im not 100% sure but i think that there is indeed a "switch" to allow for a check of a 2. (non water) liquid phase somewhere...

You can use a trick and add some water in the feed stream. Then add 3-phase separator in the flowsheet. Pentane stream will contain some Mercury and Water. Heavy liquid phase stream will contain basically Mercury and Water only.

Here is the paper on solubility of Mercury in liquid Hydrocarbons:
