Hi everyone,
I have seen Liquidtite (LFMC)type EF hanging from a j-boxs vertically in the ceiling down to peices of equipment in Industrial plants. Some are up to 30 ft long. Just doesn't seem secure or good practice. I know the 2005 code states in article 350.10 shall be permitted to be used in exposed areas. (1)Where conditions of installation , operation, or Maint. require flexibility. In article 350.30 it state LFMC must be secure 12" from termination and at least every 4ft.
They look to be in violation of article 350.30. Are there any other violations in hanging Liquidtite vertically from the ceiling?

Thanks

30 ft free riser it cannot be permitted even for 3" and more steel rigid conduit since per NEC art.344.30B(3) or Table 344.30.B(2) the maximum vertical distance between supports it is 20 ft. So for 30 ft one has to build a support tower of 10 ft tall, at least.

Hubbell has Kellems Grip made specifically for Liquidtight flex. This could alleviate some concerns. But a 30' drop is probably an NEC violation. I would also be concerned about getting the weight of the conductors off the upper terminations for a 30 foot drop.
