Hi all,

I know this question was asked a few years ago (with no answers) but the thread has been closed so I'm not able to comment on it (see thread330-170605).

Does anyone know where I can find SN data for LM6 aluminium alloy (or any other fatigue/fracture data)? I have the fatigue strengths at various temperatures but like the previous poster I am looking for the curves themselves.

I've done a literature search and looked in a number of books/papers but can't seem to find anything!

Alternatively if there is a means of generating the curves myself that would be fine. The fatigue strengths (@10^7 cycles) I currently have are:
52MPa @ 20 degrees C
44MPa @ 100 degrees C
33MPa @ 200 degrees C
25MPa @ 300 degrees C

Thank you

Dan

You won't find a great deal of data on the fatigue properties of LM6. Try searching using the newer European designations such as AC-44100, AC-44200 or AlSi12 (BS EN 1706). Here is one reference that shows an actual curve (ambient temperature only):

Keep in mind that the fatigue strength will be greatly dependent on the amount and location of porosity, and to a lesser extent, on the grain size and secondary dendrite arm spacing.
