Hi Guys,
I recently went to tour a simple cycle gas turbine plant that utilized at Rolls Royce Trent 60 gas turbine engine. It seems to be a very nice and compact package.
I was wondering if anyone has a specific experience with the Trent 60 and can share some comparisons as to the standard GE engines. I have experience on LM6000s and Pratt and Whitney engines, but have never worked on a Rolls Royce engine before.
It seems like it has a higher power capacity with a better heat rate, but it also seems to take 2x the demin water injection as the GE units. They also told me it has a direct drive to the generator so no gear box and maintenance. I also heard that the gas pressure is in excess of 900 psi into the engine (which seems high to me)
Overall it seemed like a pretty nice package and I was wondering what experience you guys have had with these engines and if there are any other major differences between this enginer and the GE engine.
Thanks,
Rob
