I am working with an air cooled heat exchanger.
I am assuming this is a cross flow regime and therefore need to multiply the lmtd by a correction factor for appropriate rating. I know of graphs that relate the correction factor to values of R and P (which are dependent on the fluid and air temperatures), and are labeled as 'CORRECTION FACTOR FOR A SINGLE PASS CROSS FLOW HEAT EXCHANGER'.
I am wondering if anyone has every seen mathmatical expressions for this correction factor and what needs to be done if the heat exchanger is a multiple pass?
Thank you for your comments
