loading cal kit data from floppy into 8753 analyzer

has anyone done this and could give me a quick overview. I've looked it up on Agilents website, but it's not clear how to use the floppy disk.

seems like it should be simple, and it is on the 8510, I've done that recently. But the older 8753 isn't that simple.

Dave, I don't think that works for inputting a cal kit on the 8753, only for recalling a calibration state. I'll verify it though.

That is how I load a cal kit from the disc supplied to me in kits I have bought from both maury and agilent.

I just tried that. The analyzer did take the info in from the floppy, and the screen changed and looked pretty odd. There was no hint anywhere that it worked properly and no id showing the 85052D cal kit. The cal kit id on the screen did not change from 7 mm.

Do you actually do this on an 8753?

I have 2 8753d units 50 Ohm and 75 Ohm.

I think I see your problem. I have 85052D kit and i looked at the disl. If the disk you have has the cal data in BDAT format (as mine does), then I think you you can't import it into the 8753 without the use of an external (HP Old style) computer through the HPIB.

My 85033D cal kit which was made for the 8753 has the cal information in an instrument state.

What you probably need to do is look up the cal coefficients for the 85052 kit online (there is an Agilent website that has all of the cal kit coefficients) and then modify the 85033D kit to be a user kit with the 85052 coefficients.

I have in the 8753, a cal kit labelled 85052C, would you know if this may be usable also? instead of the D version that our hardware and disk say?

I guess I can look online at the agilent sight too.

I printed out the C vs. the D versions of the cal kit from the Agilent website, and the short's and open's are the exact same values, hence for our short open load cal we can use the C which is stored in the analyzer, Yipee!

Now Dave, I've been pushing my driver to the right? Any thoughts?

On my 8720A (same vintage), I did exactly what Dave said. I set up a new user cal set, based on the stored cal set, and changed the C and D values manually from the push buttons, and resaved it as a user cal. It seemed to give a good cal when done. I suspect you have to do something like that--create your own user cal set.
