Hi,
I am wondering if any forum users can help me out with an API 579 / BS 7910 related query.
As far as I can tell, neither the API 579 or BS 7910 codes apply limits to the axial and circumferential defect dimensions when investigating a locally thinned area. These assessment methods can permit quite large defects, but it appears to be up to the engineering judgment of the user to determine when a locally thinned area becomes an area of general thinning.
The codes do stipulate a maximum limit on the defect depth, but that is all I can see.
Is anybody aware of any other reference documents or best practice guidelines regarding LTA size limitations?
Thanks,
pvuk
