Lock all dims permanently or toggle?

Is there a way to Lock all sketch dimensions permanently in config.pro? Thus, disabling the ability to drag sketch entities with the mouse.

The reason I ask is that I have been having trouble accidentally dragging sketches when editing a model, especially with WildFire's new "Direct Modeling" where I am often double clicking items in the graphics area.

I am a former SolidWorks user, where there was an option to enable or disable "Override dim values on drag." This is the functionality I am looking for in ProE.

Thanks

I'm not sure there is a config.pro option set up for this but you can go into Sketcher Preferences dialog Display tab and select the Lock Modified Dims option and this should solve your problem.

I'm sure this is availible in Wildfire but it might be in a different location.

That works (sort of) IN THE SKETCH. But it does not work if you are not in a sketch, double click a feature (which shows the sketch) and then drag a sketch entity.

I want to be able to have the dimensions locked all the time.

I concur. ProE has a bad habit of letting me accidentally move things that I don't want to move, or constraining things that I don't want to constrain. Setting 'lock modified dimensions' in Wildfire helps, but there should be a config.pro option to force it leave the sketch entities alone unless it's specifically told to move something.

Arlin,

I am new to ProE, coming from SWx. I share your desire.

The closest thing I have found is to add the following line to your config.pro......

sketcher_lock_modified_dims yes

Thus, whenever you input a value to a dimension, it will be automatically locked. Unfortunately, once you exit the sketch, when you re-enter all the dims will be unlocked.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I found that too... But I am still not totally satisfied.

Arlin,

Instead of trying to lock dimensions, set the features desired or all features to READ ONLY. In this way, you cannot change accidentally any dimension.
