Hi guys,
I need to know if there is any method or a small program or routine to lock a dwg such that noone can edit entities or copy and paste objects. Only zoom, pan, plot and viewing commands can be run.
Thanks[thumbsup2]

if your using windows, why don't you right click on the file go to properties and enable the read only

What's to prevent the recepient from right clicking on the file & unchecking the read only box?

I use DWF's.

From the question I would think that they are having problems making unwanted changes when simply viewing the drawing. Understanding that your network should be the restricting tool to who has access to the files.
I guess DWF's would great for placing a drawing to a web site.

Cadlock (now Cadvault) costs $300 ($1,500 site license). For a free solution, see my reply on thread555-131901 (Is there a way to "lock" a dwg file so it can't be modified?)
It is easy to do, but it's still a little known trick.

FYI, I have used this in the past to send a dwg to clients. You can print it, but you can't modify the entities.
