Log building roof tie downs 2

In designing log structures, traditionally roofs have not been tied down. I am looking for a tie down type that is
1. hidden (built into the logs ?)
2. corrosion resistant ( stainless ?))
3. can accommodate the progressive shrinkage of multiple layers of logs . (spring loaded? )

If you need to tie down the purlins or beams, just use a Lag bolt into the top log of the wall and let the wall anchorage work to take the load to the foundation. There should not be much shrinkage with this as it is mainly in the height of the wall.

For the walls, I do not use spring loaded tierods. I just provide an area in the crawlspace at the foundation wall where the rods can be periodically tightened down. This adjusting should only be needed though for the first year or two. After that, shrinkage is minimal, if at all.
