Logos Wrong for Years 2

My CAD draftsperson created our logo and put it into in a DWG file title block using our company's special font. It is ttf font type that is not part of Windows core load, but is commercially available and been around for years. But when I open the drawings on my machine the font associated with the logo text is totally wrong. I have the ttf on my machine in the windows font area, and the Text Style Control drop down shows the correct style selected associated with the font. Why won't the text show properly in the title block? Thanks in advance.

You may need the font file to be in your AutoCAD font folder also..
C:\program files\autodesk\autocad 2011\fonts

When AutoCAD first opens up a new dwg and sees a txt style it doesn't recognize it'll ask you what you'd like to use as a substitute. Once that is done it'll continue to use the substitute for the "other" txt until you tell it to change. You might have to do that so your system knows what to display.

I have had this problem with AutoCAD styles.

Make sure the font is installed on the computer - go to Fonts in the Control Panel (Control Panel | Appearance and Themes) - should be on the left under See Also. When the Fonts folder opens, check to see if it's there - if not, click on File | Install new font (assuming you have the font file somewhere). Windows (& consequently AutoCAD) won't recognize the font unless you've "Installed" it. Try the particular font in another application to be sure Windows knows it.

Open AutoCAD. Type Style, hit Enter. Find the AutoCAD style in the upper left pane. Click on it. Check the Font name in the main pane to confirm it's the one you want. If it is, you might try selecting it again and clicking on Apply. Regen the drawing.

You could also try renaming the existing Style that's supposed to be what you want and then redefining the Style you do want. Then edit your block to check the Style as defined in the Block.

For a completely different solution, try this. I have done title block logos for several companies and I decided it was much easier and more controllable, and editable, to just draw it as a graphic. Then save it in your block folder.

I get a picture (.png) file of the logo and insert it onto a layer. Then zoom up on the logo and trace it on a different layer. Since this is the "working file" I leave the logo layer in the drawing when I save it. Then I "save as" with another name and delete the .png logo, purge the layer and zoom up close on the graphic before saving.

It's a little bit of work but can be easily placed any time you want it.
