hi!

I'm trying to run a dynamic implicit analysis for a train passing a simply supported bridge in 2D. However, the analysis takes unreasonably long time, running a train with a speed of 40 km/h with a time step of 0.0005 s takes about 2 h and 40 minutes. I'm new to abaqus and I'm wondering if there are any obvious time consuming errors in the script?

Below are links to the python script and a text file with the amplitude functions.

Thanks in advance!

Do you really need such a short time step (the train moves only 5.5mm in one time increment), what are you trying to get out of your model? I have not checked your scripts so am not commeting on the mesh etc.

I ran the simulation with different time steps and found that 0.0005 is needed to get convergence. Also, I'm planning on running the analysis over a range of velocities from 40 to 300 km/h. When running the train in 300 km/h it takes about 25-30 minutes. I want to find the maximum vertical acceleration of the bridge.
