Dear Friends,
looking for basic truss configuration [geometry] that deals with long span [120FT / 36 Meters] with 30FT Hight [9 meters]
its for closed stadium
1- any references with similar applications ?
2- Is Tubular Arch section [compared to I-sections ] less/more expensive for this type of structures ?
3- as a designer you prefer the Arch type or straight Triangular Truss ?
4- Tubular sections [few large diameters members or Many small diameters Structure] ?
5- Using cables Stayed Roof [cost worthy or ?] - Are they durable ?
6- thinking of Cellular/Castellated Steel Plate Girders [or stick with Truss theme] ?
yours inputs are appreciated

Not a truss but your first photo appears to be a Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB). That's definitely the most economical way I've seen to achieve large spans up to about 300 ft. Anything longer probably requires does require a truss.

One big disadvantage of using a PEMB type structure is that you can't design it yourself. Each manufacturer uses slightly different details and has different standards that their shop is able to fabricate so you have to guess on the size of the members and wait for their design to come out. That won't happen until long after your drawings have issued.

In my region, tubes have always been much more expensive than I shapes.

Curved members have to be curved at a custom shop and it's expensive. That additional cost should only be added if the architect and end user understand the impact and decide it's worth it.

I'd look into using joists or joists girders which are available in curved configurations.

What's IQ location?

In Australia we would go truss, less material weight and we would use duragal sections to reduce painting. We don't have many people doing pemb well.
