I have an application with roughly 1250 hp, 900 rpm, and 30' of bowls. I know seawater lift pumps can be in excess of 50 meters and this is a very generic question, but how long can a pump be before it becomes a major rotordynamic concern?

We have vertical turbine pumps in deep water wells that are 450 feet long. These are VS1 pumps, not in a containment can. But, I see no reason to limit the overall length of a VS6 pump. It is a fairly straightforward matter to check for torsional resonance. The spacing of the support bushings would be close enough to avoid any other rotordynamics problems.
