Looking for 950V motor & soft start

Hi, I am a looking for a supplier of motors in the 900 to 1100 V range, prefer 50 Hz but 60 would do also, 150 kW. The application is tunnel boring machines. I also need a soft start for the motor, and I need it fairly urgently.

Any ideas?

Motors of this size and voltage rating are commonly used in the mining area in Australia. Perhaps you could talk to suppliers who supply this markt.

It will pay to familiarize yourself with regional regulatory/occupational-safety requirements. Chances are the special-purpose application may take significant lead time, given factors like enclosure integrity, running protection and grounding.

Basically below 1000 V still falls under low voltage. There seem to be plenty of guys around doing 3kV motors as standard, but not around 1000 V, which seems strange because we know it is being used in the mining industry. I am sure there must be a company out there specializing in this range, but a thorough internet search did not show up much.

Aside: For some mining operations on the North-American continent, nominal 1040V 3ø 60Hz is derived from the Y configuration of 600V windings; id est, 1040Y/600V service.

Motortronics makes 1000V soft starters for Joy Mining used on tunnel vehicles. I think they may have also been used on TBMs from Robbins / Atlas Copco. I do not know where either of them get their motors from but I will ask and post an answer if I get one. Quando Omni Flunkus Moritati
