I live in Bellflower California and work in orange county as an electrical designer. I would love to improve on my autocad design and would love to work for anyone who uses autocad a lot. Work part time during the weekend. I just recently graduated from a 4 years university with a degree in electrical engineering. And would love to know how to improve or if there any self teaching cd out there?

In Acad 2000, try the AutoDesk Learning Assistant CD. Not sure if they continued this past that version

A good site to have a look at is It is a pay site ($120 per year) with a few free tutorials . However, I highly recommend at least a visit. There are 900+ Acad Tutorials which cover many versions of ACAD (upto and including 2005). Give it a look, What have u to lose?

Have a look at some of the local community colleges. Most that I've seen have CAD courses that are taught in AutoCAD.

Otherwise, grab yourself one of the many good books out there (I'm partial to "Inside AutoCAD" but mostly 'cuz it's been around forever) and have at it. Also, have a read through the User's Guide that's part of the online help.

The short answer for "how to improve" is to start using it and keep using it. I've never taken a class but have simply learned as I went by using books and the online help to accomplish what I needed to. I imagine that this is pretty common.

Another thing to do is to bravely explore the menus. Click things, read the prompts, and then try to understand what they're doing.
