Not too long ago, I saw a reference on this site to a treatise on using slabs on grade in bearing, or the bearing ability of slabs on grade. Apparently, someone did a special study on this and published their results?

Anyhow, the situation being when an interior, non-bearing partition is turned into a bearing wall (like when someone alters roof trusses in a single family house attic to create storage).

I've seen the comments about ACI and other req'ts for 6" footers. And I've seen recommendations to check punching shear. These are not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a source document.

Thanks.

J.

The best manual for "Designing Floor Slabs on Grade" is by Robert Anderson and Boyd Ringo. You won't go wrong by purchasing it.
