Does anyone have any suggestions on a textbook or reference I could use to design Class 8 trucks and trailers?

Thanks,

You won't be doing it on your own. I'm sure if you get a job at a company that already builds such vehicles, you'll be assigned your particular little niche.

Sae has two volumes of Buckingdale lecture series on commercial vehicle development. Very good reference for the fundamentals

Thanks for the help.

@truckandbus Is there any way you can provide a link? I tried doing a search, and have been unsuccessful so far.

Volume I is SAE publication PT-41; volume II is SAE publication PT-87. Looks like they may be out of print. Amazon has volume I for sale used at $188.

They are a collection of Buckindale lectures; each one has it's own SAE paper so you could pick and choose and buy the individual papers. I found the engine integration and cooling system design papers to be the most interesting

SAE bookstore has over 200 books on truck design on many different tpics

Truck maintenance council (TMC) recommended maintenance and recommended engineering practices handbooks are good references as well
