Looking for Simple 3D Wireframe Drafting Software for EDM Tool Paths

Hello everyone,

This may not the the right forum but I’m looking for recommendations on a user-friendly drafting program that can handle 3D wireframe modeling, specifically for drawing and rotating models.

Our EDM software can import 2D closed profiles at two different Z elevations to create tool paths. I need a program that will allow me to draw these profiles, rotate the model for viewing from various angles, and export it as a DXF file.

The software needs to be very straightforward to use—programs like SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling tools are far too complex for this purpose.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

To run our EDM tool path software I need to give it a dxf file like this.

The bottom sketch is aligned with 0,0,0 and the middle and top sketches define the profile to be cut. Right now, I do this in SW but since I can't save a sketch as a DXF I have to create a solid and then save it... Production then deletes the model in CAM and is left with these 3 sketches...

I want to offload this to the production floor but they have zero experience with SW but know AutoCAD14 well...

Your choice is inventor. Solidworks, fusion, and other nock offs. Freecad is free.

Each can take section views and make flat patterns.
I still use Autocad for simple drawings.
I am a self taught on inventor and free cad. By watching and doing 3 d drawings. It takes time.
