Anyone know a company capable of making large corona rings. We are looking for 8"ODx.25wall tubing made into 44"OD rings. We are looking to purchase 18 of these and I cant find anyone willing to make them for us. Any help appreciated.

Another avenue may be manufactures of large AC test equipment such as Hipotronics or Phenix Technologies. They routinely make this type of thing and larger for their test equipment. They also may have some different ideas that may help.

Thank you all for your suggestion already have recieved some feedback from the suggested companies on making our parts.

I just wanted to leave an update. I had prices per ring coming as high as $3500 per ring plus $55,000 tooling. If anyone else ends looking for large corona rings or well any these company I found may be a good place to start. This company was one of the very few that could even make the rings and they had by far the best price.

Snowerw, can you explain the application a little further.Indoor or outdoor use?Permanently on an equipment or in test lab?Voltage level?

In test lab, we use corona ring of size as mentioned in your mail at a tiny fraction of the cost mentioned by you.We use flexible aluminum air duct used by air conditioning industry. It works to carry connecting leads. When PD test was started on Power trfs during 1960's GE was using cartyre tubes as corona ring in their factory in your city.

If you want permanent set up,then also I may be able to suggest you low cost sources from India.

I believe you are refering to GE using truck tire inner tubes for corona rings which I had heard of as well.

As far as flexible air duct I dont think the surface is smooth enough without testing the material. Unfortunately I have a customer that wants to purchase the corona rings assemblies asap.

It is for permanent outdoor application at 500kV.

thanks

It is true that airduct surface is not mirror smooth. But it is working well in the lab. We get permanent aluminum corona rings fabricated locally.
