Lost colour on parts?

My client has requested that all the panels on the machine I'm designing be black, so as requested, I added the colour at part level. I built the assembly and all was good. Now a couple of them have lost their colour... (God knows how I manage these things?!). The main offenders are a large end panel and a 'U' shaped cover, both of which duplicate parts - i.e. there is another identical one in the assembly - the other part in both instances has retained its colour.

Not the biggest threat to the democracy and civilisation of this world, I'm sure you'll agree, but a bit of a niggle in mine!

I have what sounds exactly the same problem; parts retain their assigned colour until usually a save causes them to lose it and go back to default 'grey'. No display states have been added yet.

Just in case anyone searches this in future - I solved my own issue. Although I had applied a material/colour to each part at part level, I'd somehow lost these on some parts in the assembly. I right clicked on them in the top-level assembly, selected appearances and re-applied the material at the top level available. Done. Until next time haha!

Tommy.
