Low Chloride content gasket for Stailess steel girth flange

Hai all,
Does anyone know why low chloride content gasket require for stainless steel girth flange ?
Is there any reaction between Cl and Stainless steel ?
Look forward for the information.

The Achilles heel of low-Mo aust. SS is Cl. Pitting and SCC are what happens.
 
To add to Metalguy's statement, stainless steels are highly susceptible to crevice corrosion due to chlorides - even the high molybdenum grades. It is highly advisable to eliminate chlorides from known crevices.
