I am drawing up a component that will be made of titanium. The component is part of a housing that will be under vacuum and during machining I do not want any microcracks formed which could jeopardize the hermeticity of the device. In the notes I want to say something along the lines of "machine part using low stress machining practices", however this seems a little vague/ambiguous. I cannot find any standards that i can refer to make sure no mechanical strengths are altered or other damage is done during machining. You would think someone such as NASA would have developed something like this already. Anyone have any input on this? Thanks
