Peers,

I'm looking for some advice for non-metallic pipe support packer material which can withstand low temperature. Piping is low temp CS A333Gr6 and will see temp as low as -60C during blowdown. There are some structural contact point which requires to be isolated from low temp pipe. Preferably looking for a non-metallic packer / pad. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Teflon sheet is very low porosity, moderate physical strength and has a moderate thermal conductivity (relative to metal on metal), and remains at least somewhat flexible at those temperatures.

Glass fibre belting has lower thermal conductivity but higher porosity, so it might retain condensate should any form when the piping is cold. That could lead to corrosion later.

Neither will be any good for a support that has to resist axial movement of the pipe in the shoe.

Why don't you find ASME B31.3, Table A323.4.3 & A323.4.2C. If it requires Strength, you can also find the properties in the ASTM D series (or other Codes) - such as, D3295, D3296, D6867, etc.
