I am having difficulty finding in Section VIII requirements for austinitic SS base metal when the minimum design metal temperature is below -20F. I understand that these materials don't undergo the same ductile-brittle transformation as those materials listed in UCS-66, so the requirements may differ. I also understand that Section IX designates charpy testing requirements for low temperature weld procedures that cover the filler metal and HAZ.

I don't find requirements or exemptions for these base metals in general, though. What have I overlooked?

Thanks,
Tim

timsch, have you looked over UHA-51? Specifically UHA-51(d)?

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

SnTMan, that section is what I needed, and failed to find myself. Thanks for the pointer.

You. can also look at Section II Part D and see SA-240.

Section IX does not provide specific requirements (location, number acceptance) for CVN testing, this is from the construction code book section, like Section VIII, Div 1.

Thanks for the correction, metengr.
