I am performing an Lpile analysis for a small boat dock along a river. The dock will be 6' wide by 30 feet long with the structural engineer wanting to support it using 2 12" diameter pipe piles (HSS 18x.05). At normal pool the dock would be at Elev. 455' and during flood, 472' resulting in a pipe that sticks out of the water about 20 feet. The depth of water has been estimated to be 10 feet deep at the furthest point.
My question is in the modeling. The structural engineer has provided me with a Point Load of 1700 lbs (water velocity + debris buildup). In addition, he has also added an Impact Load of 7600 lbs. I'm not sure exactly how everything has been calculated, so I've asked for the loads at the pile head. Would there be a moment load, because that has not been provided? Any help in understanding the loading would be helpful
