Dear all,

our client is asking us to specify LTCS material impact tested at -52°C. Anybody have any experience about values of impact tests at this Temperature for cast (A352-LCB/LCC) and forged (A182-LF2) grades?

Thank you in advance

I have had experience with A-359 LF2 meeting B31.3 absorbed energy requirements at -52C. None with casting suppliers for your materials. You need to ask your suppliers.

I have gone a bit lower than -50°F but with a lower carbon and higher Mo chemistry than what is usually done with LCC/LCB. I would suggest that you recommend LC1 as it is designed to go to a lower temperature.

As a casting supplier I would not want to accept an order with LCC/LCB with impacts at a test temperature lower than the specification as my weld repair procedures were not qualified at that temperature.
