OK I am curious about a LV Motor Protection scheme. I usually specify Motor Protection Relays for MV Motors, but I have a 200HP 460V Direct Drive Pump that has Motor RTDs. Is the only way to protect the motor with respect to the RTDs through a Motor Protection Relay? Like an SEL 701, or SEL-749 via SEL2600, or a GE MM-300? Or Is there a RTD Module I can interface directly to the NEMA Motor Starter to shutdown the motor on RTD overload. I really don't need the MPR if I can interface the RTD module direct to the starter or is this not possible?

Thanks in Advance.

In Europe RTD monitor relays are commonplace. They are usually small DIN rail mounting modules.

By by the time you have provided thermal overload, an RTD module, and earth fault protection - all typical on a machine of this size - you will likely arrive at the cost of a low end MPR which can do all those functions plus a few more. If it's a retrofit then a discrete RTD module makes sense.
