LV to HV Separation on Cable Support Tray

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone could help me understand clearance requirements for LV control circuit ~24V to HV circuit ~8kV running on cable ladder. It was my understanding that these circuits would have to be run separately, on different ladders. I can not find any Australian standard to support this thinking however. Is it just preference to separate these circuits based on EMF distortion on control circuit, or is this mandated?

Any help would be appreciated.

Although I am not familiar with the specific Australian Standards, I believe it is worth to see the reference below from IEEE for cable segregation.
In general, it is not good engineering practice to run LV control circuit together with MV cable in cable tray or raceways.

I agree with cuky2000. In our Power Stations -since no government standard is compulsory-we follow the U.S.A. Standard IEEE 525.I am also not familiar with Australian standards.
However, I think you have to follow Australian standard AS/ACIF S009/2006[or last edition]
Installation requirements for customer cabling chapter 16,17 and 18.


 
I don't know about Australia, but in the US, the NEC requires circuits over 1000 V must be separated from lower voltage circuits via a metal barrier. Divided tray is an option, as would be metal-clad cable. However, most of the time separate trays are run in my experience. This is a safety issue, not an EMF concern. EMF issues also favor additional separation, as Cuky noted.
