I know this is a complete shot in the dark, but would anyone be willing to share any information on MA Prohl's work (Westinghouse?)? He wrote some papers back in 1958 on calculating packeted blade group natural frequencies using energy methods. I have been looking endlessly for these in digital or print, but to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated.

may i suggest another forum to try? the International Generator Technical Community’s Steam Turbine Forum (IGTC) .

the turbine section is fairly new and has had very little participation, BUT the moderators are greatly diversied and experanced

That's assuming they let you in... my application for membership of the IGTC was met with a haughty silence. [thumbsdown]

Fortunately I was given immediate access to ITGC forums, maybe because I checked engineer within an OEM?
Anyway, the line has been cast, and I'll see if I get any bites.

I guess senior engineer at one of the biggest CCGT plants in Europe didn't make the grade - so much for honesty! [lookaround]

ScottyUK, I was sort of surprised that you were not one of the contributors on the original generator section of that forum!
I don't follow the genertor side since they seen to discuss things beyound my mechanical comprehesnsion. the turbine side that was started about a year ago has been very lack luster. I was thinking there was some grey hair rotor designers as modirators, but csk62 inquery has yet to recieve a reply
so maybe I need a "dark star" for my recomendation :(

FYI, for anyone who may search in the future, I have found some valuable information from Prohl's work, should you require it.

I can provide some formulas, information etc if someone specifically requests them, but due to the nature of the source I can not post any hard copies, links, etc. I hope you understand.
