Hey folks,

I've attended some seminars where M2M technology was discussed. Does anyone know of vendors who currently have the technology commerically available for lighting systems?

The way I understand it...IEEE has developed a wireless standard (kinda like 802.11b) for communication for controls for electrical/mechanical equipment.

I'm guessing the industry will lag a bit in accepting/trusting such technology, but I'd like to know if there are some lighting systems with M2M technology available?

Many thanks for any response!

I believe the standard you are looking for is "802.15.4" which is for home automation, building automation, and other applications were the data rate is low. The standard networking layer generally used with this called "ZigBee", but some vendors are using a proprietary networking layer that has in many cases a ZigBee-like sturcture.

Google any of these terms and you will find lots of information. Lots of development going on, but only a few over-the-counter-ready products currently.
