No but UGS NX5 will run on native MAC OS X.

It can be done, but is there any incentive for SolidWorks to recode the whole front end to their program? SolidWorks, like SolidEdge, use the MS MFC calls for the menus and other tasks. They would have to port the whole user interface to MAC OS X, which is a Unix derivative. UGS didn't have to do that with NX4 as they already had a Unix front end.

The SW folks told me a long time ago they have no intention of creating SW for the Mac platform (Mac OS) since there would be no way to justify such a cost for such a market share.

Just a quick note there is eDrawings for MacOS. It is very good (I tried it). And it allows you to view SolidWorks files on a Mac (without using bootcamp).

As you know Wozniak will be at SolidWorks World. I wonder if there will be a big announcement, like eDrawings for the iPod :)

Anyways, only time will tell.

Yeah, I used that with some Mac clients of mine about a year ago (right after the Mac eDrawings came out)--they were ecstatic they could get such detailed capacity in such a small file. They used the section and measure tool like crazy.

Now, of course, we have molded parts in production and they're very happy with the whole process.
