Can glass (specifically borosilicate) be machined using typical processes or are there special consideriations and processes required.

If the tension -- the sum of the externally applied and of
the innner tension -- exceeds the tensile strength, the glass breaks.

It means the machnining must not create large tension
or else you must remove the inner tension with heat treatment. You can visualize the inner tension with
polarized light.
