I am currently doing a job trying to salvage an impeller for one of the pumps at work. I'm having serious issues getting a decent cut on the impeller. My co-workers and I have read the Mahchinist Handbook and followed the instrustions for grinding the proper High Speed Tool cutter but it is not helping in the least bit to rid the chatter and rubbing. Please help! I need tips and advice ASAP! Thank you.

Why high speed tool steel?

Monel is a very corrosive resistant alloy, not really a high-temperature, high-carbon cold-formed steel.

I have uploaded a file called monel.zip. It contains machining guidelines from American Machinists Handbook circa 1940. Perhaps there will be some ideas for you.

Good luck,
Bruce
