Maintenance and criteria for selecting offshore generators

I have aquestion about maintenance of synchrounous generators and induction generators offshore. what are the most common resons of maintenance of these generators offshore. Have anybody heard of doubly fed induction generators used offshore, do they come in compact sizes?
