This is likely a very basic question but I cannot find info on it. We currently have V5r20. Our customer has r21; we cannot open their files. Because we are paying the yearly licensing fee, are the maintenance releases (r19,r20,r21....) included in that? Is there a download or patch that I should look for?

Or is this something we would again have to pay for?

Hi,

If you are paying the yearly licensing fee, you can ask directly to your DS reseller/partner to give what you need or give you all details regarding an upgrade. This is one of their duties and in this specific case should be free of charge (the upgrade) as far as I know.

You can also contact DS directly (on their website) and they can give you an answer regarding the reseller/partners and what they should do.

Regards
Fernando

Yes, check with your reseller. Our prior reseller sent the latest Rev automatically, our current reseller doesn't. We had the same situation, couldn't open a customer file. When I called the reseller, they said they don't send the latest version unless we request it. I asked them how would I know it's out there to request? And I'm paying a yearly maintainence fee for what? They are now supposed to inform us when a latest Rev is available, so we can "request" it!

Thank you for the replies. We too will now receive the update emails. Any advice on migrating toolbars and settings into the new version? Is there an easy (not a macro) way to do this?

Nick,

We have 1 seat of Catia and I too must contact my VAR to find out if there is a patch.
The thing that gets me is trying to navigate the DS site to find the patches. When your VAR tells you to contact them to help you navigate a web site you know it is layed out poorly.
We normally use UG here and the support and web site is second to none IMHO. I get an email from Siemens informing when a patch/update is available for download, and I do not ever need to deal with a VAR.

I only wish DS was half as good at their support.

Just my 2 cents.
