A line type like this" -CW-" was made for one of the layer w/express tools of ACAD 2004. The program saved it as a file and loaded it in the layer property. Every detail in that one layer appeared proper however when a line was drawn w/ that layer current we got only a straight line w.o the CW's. We zoomed in the line several times to check for the lettering. We repeated the programming two other times w/ no change in our result.

To be sure that the steps were correct I opened a new file and created that line type w/ no prolblem.

Another thing peculiar to the file w/ the incorrect linetype is when I tried to change color of any line, a series of flashing color palettes would instantaneously appear and disappear. Upon opening the layer manager w/ the pointing arrow on the right side of the layer box, all layer color selection would appear "greyed out" . Also at about one third of the drawing disappeared a little earlier during the initial attempt at creating the linetype mentioned above.

Any suggestion since a lot of time was spent by our ACAD drafter.

Hi Chicopee,
how is the code of Your linetype exactly?
I suppose, there's a collision between the font of the linetype and the textstyle.
Did You try to make a shape?

Is this linetype part of your AutoCAD menu? Is it part of the AutoCAD menu on both computers you have tried opening the file with?

Try creating the new linetype in the drawing thay you are having problems with.

Problem solved!! the "CW" in the linetype was improperly scaled. This was noted when drawing was placed in Paper space and the 96 scale factor was applied when drawing was scaled to D size paper. Thanks to the participants for their contributions.
