Hi,

I would like to increase the mesh density in some local areas of a solid. How can I do that? Is there a way to mesh different partitions individually?

Partition it around the area you're interested in and use local seeding.

1. To refine the mesh, assign smaller seeds for the regions, edges etc. where you want a denser mesh

2. CAE->Mesh Module->Main Menu->Mesh->Region
...and select the regions/partitions you want to mesh.

or keep the left mouse button pressed while clicking on the "Mesh part..." icon to see the other meshing options.

and the most important:
the ABAQUS documentation can be very useful..if you read it.

Thanks for your answers.

It would have been nice if one could seed one whole partitioned section with one command, just like one can seed a whole part using seed->part. But I guess that's not an option.

Just drag the mouse over all the lines you want seeding in one sweep and then seed those selected. It's quite simple to do.

In addition to Corus' approach:

If you use one of the "Seed edge" command and if you place the mouse cursor in the middle of the region/partition the program will highlight and select all the boundaries of that region. If you place the cursor on a specific edge only that edge will be highlighted and selected if clicked.

Also, when prompted for selection, you can right-click and choose "Selection options" where you can restrict the type of entities you want to select. For example, you can restrict the selection to faces and then select the partition(s) you want.The program will select all the edges of the selected partion(s).
