Make up air / Btu ratio

Hello,

Can anybody help me with this, how much make up air is required for 1000 Btu/hr burner. I am looking to get a ratio. Thanks

A table in the ASHRAE 1985 Fundamentals Handbook (pg. 15.8) lists these values. For example Natural Gas requires 9.6 lb of cu. ft.air/cu. ft of fuel, Propane requires 24 cu.ft. of air/cu. ft. of fuel, No. 2 fuel oil requires 12.7 lb of air/gal of fuel.

Are you talking about combustion air to meet code? If so, it gets pretty tricky and depends on where you are. It is explained in the National Fuel Gas Code and is dependent on many factors, such as proximity to an outside wall, whether or not a fan will be used or just louvers, etc. In that case, there is no constant ratio.

Yes, i am talking about combustion air, with exhaust power fan. At least to get a ball-park figure on the ratio so the burner is not sutting too much, or gives off too much blue flame output.

You can't get a very specific answer unless you specify the fuel. For natural gas 10:1 air/fuel is an approximate minimum.
