Making a tiny stream larger.

There are a few tiny streams on a property I am acquiring in Skamokawa WA - there are some tiny steams (in. blue). on the topo map. They start from about 700 and spill into forest and perhaps the Columbia River.


How can I "improve" a stream into one that is much larger?

Let's say you remove all the trees in an area, somehow "poison" the undergrowth and actually get more run-off from rainfall, etc. Then the neighbors downstream get more water also. You may be restricted by any of this work by local or state regulations, not to mention a law suite due to excessive damage down stream. I'd live with what you have and obey the regulations.

I dont see why you would do that? To have a better water feature on your property. If you attempted it you would most definitely mess up the geo-hydrological conditions. Less water in some areas, more water in others. You would have shrink swell issues, erosion, maybe reduce existing ground water abstraction for supply.

All of these may be knock on effects on your neighbours around the site
