Hi all,
I'm trying to make the length of a compression spring ipt adaptive to other moving parts in an iam. Found a thread which points to sean dodsons site for a tutorial but sean's site has a link to another site which doesn't seem to be active anymore. I've tried everything I know about adaptivity including linking appropriate parameter of spring feature (pitch)to assembly and writing a formula etc but can't get to work. Simply constraining the adaptive spring ends to the other moving parts doesn't work.

I sure this must be a perenial qustion but havn't found any other references. Can anyone help.
Thanks in advance.

What you mean by adaptive ? , what actually you want to achieve.

The compression spring is between to other parts in an assembly. One of these parts moves and compresses and decompresses the spring. Somehow I should be able to have the spring adapt to the position of this moving part so that the spring changes its length (which is a function of the pitch feature). I've made may adaptive parts in various assemblies but never a spring and I can't get it to work.

Thanks rollup.
The link mentions a method which uses Studio to animate the a spring feature. But i'd like to get this going within the model itself along which all the other moving parts.
I'm still looking.
As far as I can see there is no inventor FAQ in tis forum??
