In catia, the exploded view simply explodes parts with no indication of thier position. As in Solidworks, is there a way to explode components manually in a particular direction we want? i saw many youtube videos, but no help.
Create a "scene" in your assembly, pull parts away from each other (in the scene) as you would want to see them.
create a isometric view.
Apply scene to view (modify links from drawing view, rmb)
Drag and drop the compass on a part (or set of parts) to manually move, similar to SolidWorks. Save the explode in a Scene (like Rickyt said), similar to configurtions on SolidWorks.
SolidWorks has a nice tool for Explode Lines; CATIA does not.
But using compass we can drag only one component at a time. in a conveyor there are tens of bearings and bolts, nuts. Is there a way to select and drag multiple components?
one more thing is while dragging a chain assembly(made of many links) using compass only one link moves, not the whole chain assembly. Will be very happy to know if there are other ways.
LWolf Thanks. in case of a product as in chain assembly with multiple links, is there a way to choose in one pick? Picking from parts tree wont work in catia.
sure, if you're blue in the level above your assy of interest, engaging the compass will affect the level immediately underneath that mentioned blue level. If you select the sub-assy then that entire sub-assy will be moved
