Manually adding parts to BOM

Recently I can not manually add parts to a Bill of Material. It will let me add in a row for a new part but when I try to double click and type in text for a description, part number, etc. it will not let me type anything in. Has anyone else run into this problem? It is the 2010 version of solidworks.
