Hi everyone,
Ball milling can be used to produce irregular shaped micro particles. How to produce micro spherical, angular, acicular, elongated and cubical particles. What are the different methods available and how about its complexity?

The type of shape you will tend to get depends on the material you are grinding. Isotropic material like amorphous silica make round particles, wollastonite, attapulgite or halloysite make needles and mica, talc or kaolinite make platelets. The aspect ratio and particle size are key for performance and that's where the milling and classifying technologies come into play respectively. So, start with the correct material then optimize from there. Consult books and also leading manufacturers like Alpine Hosakawa.
