Trying to solve a model with about one million DOF, but MARC stops saying that it is unable to allocate enough memory. The machine I'm using has 8Gb RAM and 300 Gb free disk space which I think is more than enough.

This is what the .out file says:

total workspace needed with in-core matrix storage = 247512445
part of solver workspace is allocated separately
general memory increasing from 59 MByte to 944 MByte

memory increase from 15490527 to 247512445 words failed

*** error: memory request of 247512445 failed during
sizing for operator matrix

memory usage: MByte words % of total

the command line to call MARC is:

c:\msc.software\msc_nastran\msc2008\marc\\tools\run_marc -jid newm3h_2_cdb -v no -iam nanl -sdir c:/scratch

Any help appreciated
Miguel
