Marking for Elevation Change?!

We are installing raised platforms and need to have some sort of yellow marking around the edge to show that there is a change in elevation. It needs to me something that can be installed, not painted, and the idea of a sticker has been thrown out.

The platform material is fiberglass and about 2" thick.

Why not a sticker? I was thinking of the really think ones that are used on supermarket floors.

But if you don't want paint or stickers you are pretty much limiting yourself to some type of overlay. You don't mention what kind of loads/machines/wheels this marking needs to encounter. First is the material type and this could be a thin sheet of metal (I would shy away from plastic because it might warp). Then there is the fastening method which would preferably be adhesive, but could also be small screws if the loads aren't that heavy. Maybe you could use yellow adhesively backed tiles?

Could you remove some of the existing gel coat and replace it with a yellow colored gel coat.
I think there are some specific materials for high traffic areas.
You best bet would be to talk to a large marine supply store as to what's available.

I think Mcmaster carries adhesive marking tape in yellow and yellow/black stripes.

Maybe TAP Plastics can help you with a strip you can attach with screw to the platform edges.

There are a variety of rubber-like products commonly used to mark the edges of things like train platforms, ADA curb-cuts and the like. Some are intended to me mechanically fastened in place.

Is your platform monolithic or made up of "planks"? If it is planked, could the edge planks simply be a different color?

Why have you discarded the concept of stickers? Road stripes are sometimes applied with stickers. If they hold up to that I would think they would hold up on a platform.
