Marking of Pipe ASTM A 358

[PAN]

In my understanding, the markings on each length of pipe shall
include the plate material designations. This is a requirement of ASTM A 358.

If the actual marking shows only heat number without plate material designation , can we accept this pipe material?

Is this the normal practice in steel manufacturing industry?

NO IT IS NOT IF THE FABRICATOR KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING AND WHOEVER PURCHASED THE ROLLED PLATE TOLD HIM IT WAS TO A-358

You also should have gotten mill test reports with all the extra nde and de required for pipe rolled from plate.

if it is not marked properly, if the nde and testing is not done...you should not use the pipe if the a-358 marking and specification is required.
