How does everyone determine the projected shear area, Apv, when determining the masonry breakout strength in the case of an anchor embedded into the top of grout filled CMU wall with the shear force applied parallel to the plane of the wall?

If the anchor is located "far enough" away from an edge, do you neglect masonry breakout strength as a failure mechanism, or is there an MSJC section, that I overlooked, similar to ACI 318-14 section 17.5.2.1 (c) which allows the breakout strength to be twice that calculated assuming the shear force was applied perpendicular to the face of the wall?

When the shear is parallel to an edge i’ve ignored masonry breakout. My reasoning is that the capacity is so much higher than the other failure modes. Logically though I can’t envision breakout occuring when the shear is parallel to an edge.
