Masonry Retaining Walls

Does anyone have any insight into the practical height for a 12" CMU retaining wall. I normally stop at 12' high but I have seen several that are higher and I wonder how they get that without exceeding fm

Perhaps they use a higher f'm. You can specify f'm values greater than the typical (for us anyway) f'm = 1500 psi.
