How can I find the mass of a set of selected elements? The *get command (elem, mtot) provides the mass of the whole model whatever the selection is.

Sounds like you need some APDL magic. You can write a small APDL routine to:

1) select an element;
2) if the element is a shell (for example) *GET its area, thickness and density. Note that if it's a solid, beam, ... you will need to change this slightly to reflect the element type;
3) calculate the mass of this element using the above information, and add it to a variable, say "MASSTOT";
4) Loop on 1,2,3 above adding the mass of the element/s to the variable "MASSTOT" to get the total mass of the element/s.
